    SMG is seeking an experienced Consumer Insights Manager to join our team that designs, conducts, and delivers custom consumer research and brand tracking studies. The successful candidate will have a strong track record of working in a client-facing role and using market research to deliver the actionable insights clients need to improve. He or she will excel in a fast-paced, collaborative environment and will demonstrate survey design experience and meticulous attention to detail.


    Primary Responsibilities


    • Manage a variety of ad-hoc and ongoing research projects focused on brand tracking, product evaluation, product pricing, customer segmentation, and customer satisfaction and loyalty
    • Work with internal account teams and clients to clarify objectives and develop survey content and analysis plans
    • Evaluate proposed sampling methodologies and make recommendations to ensure sample representativeness
    • Some experience conducting statistical analyses (e.g., t-tests, ANOVA, correlation, linear regression, logistic regression, conjoint analysis, and perceptual mapping) and designing, creating, and testing surveys
    • Interpret and evaluate statistical output and generate recommendations based on findings
    • Prepare results summaries and reports in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
    • Present research findings, implications, and recommendations to clients and internal stakeholders



    • Master’s Degree in the behavioral/social sciences, statistics, or business (e.g., psychology, sociology, marketing, or economics) with exposure to statistics and research methods.
    • At least 3 years of experience in client management and customer research and analytics
    • Demonstrated skills in research design, questionnaire development, quantitative data analysis, and report writing
    • Excellent analytical skills and critical thinking abilities
    • Meticulous attention to detail
    • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and work under tight deadlines
    • Strong presentation skills
    • Effective interpersonal and communication skills needed to manage relationships with internal staff and clients
    • Experience with SPSS or SAS
    • Experience with Sawtooth preferred but experience with any of the following survey programming software applications would be helpful: Vovici, Confirmit, Qualtrics, Sparq, or Firefly
    • Experience with online research panels and communities, brand tracking studies, and multi-unit restaurant, retail, and grocery clients helpful but not required
