Service Management Group (SMG) is a global, technology-enabled experience measurement firm that helps multi-unit B2C and B2B brands listen better, act faster and outperform the competition. SMG is looking for a senior marketing manager to join our growing B2B marketing organization. This new position will report to the VP of Marketing and be responsible for campaign planning, content strategy and development, conference and trade show strategy, account-based marketing and sales tools for SMG’s emerging demand generation practice. The position will be based in SMG’s Kansas City headquarters and manage programs for North America and EMEA.


SMG is a high-growth, fast-paced environment, and the ideal candidate must demonstrate a history of driving innovation and results. Success means building marketing programs that generate marketing qualified leads and marketing sourced pipeline and closed bookings.


  • Lead collaboration with VP of Marketing and key marketing team members to develop campaigns and marketing program strategies that support SMG business strategy and sales goals.
  • Lead collaboration across demand generation and creative services on content strategy and development, aiming for an “always on” content marketing approach across all channels, programs and properties.
  • Master understanding of SMG’s business model and product suite in order to expertly craft creative briefs for content creation as well as effectively audit and evaluate existing creative assets.
  • Collaborate with marketing specialist to create and maintain an integrated messaging and content plan/calendar as well as an annual marketing activity calendar.
  • Collaborate with marketing specialist to drive conference and trade show best practices to optimize traffic and pipeline return from both attendance-only and exhibiting conferences and shows.
  • Lead collaboration across demand generation and sales to build a repeatable and scalable account-based marketing practice that drives engagement across all account tiers and creates opportunities for Sales.
  • Evaluate and recommend general and customizable sales tools that enable and equip Sales to prospect, generate pipeline and close deals.
  • Maintain brand standards across all programs and channel execution.
  • Strategize across demand generation on testing and optimization efforts to continually increase lead creation and conversion to pipeline, aiming for an agile execution model.
  • Identify best practices, insights and trends to help improve the demand generation practice.
  • Manage partner contracts and relationships as needed for marketing programs.
  • Budget control and management as needed for marketing programs.
  • Additional strategic initiatives as deemed important.


The ideal candidate will have a proven track record for managing demand generation programs for a B2B enterprise software company, including managing content marketing strategies, account-based marketing and lead generation campaigns from concept to ROI analysis.


Required Experience + Traits


  • 8+ years marketing experience, including demand generation, for a B2B software company, with proven ability to deliver consistently strong measurable results
  • Accountability for generating pipeline and bookings (not just leads)
  • Demonstrated skills in strategic planning and execution of marketing programs
  • Experience building and executing account-based marketing programs
  • Experience running integrated campaigns incorporating multiple channels, including digital, website, email and database marketing, content marketing, trade shows, etc.
  • Experience with Marketo (or equivalent) and Microsoft Dynamics (or equivalent) to generate, capture, nurture, track and report on leads, conversions, and ROI
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
  • Excellent spoken and written communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects and consistently deliver on time
  • Detail-oriented with strong attention to follow-through
  • Highly collaborative with proven experience working in a team environment
  • Experience and comfort with working with Sales and other internal stakeholders
  • Creative, high energy, innovative, proactive and resourceful
  • BA/BS in marketing or related field
