SMG develops the algorithms, software systems, and visualizations to deliver timely, actionable location-based business intelligence to a growing list of national and regional brands. The Associate Product Manager works to ensure that our products meet the needs of our clients and the desired business goals. This roles assists with the execution of the product vision and partners with our software development, UX teams to ensure we build the right solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and document the product requirements to meet customer needs by working with internal and external stakeholders including Client Insights, and Research.    
  • Assist and maintain ongoing product roadmap and implementation documentation.  
  • Research additional enhancement opportunities based on: client needs, user feedback, industry trends.
  • Write clear and concise requirements and user stories, prioritize development items, and coordinate schedules/milestones with design and engineering teams.
  • Formulate, monitor, and respond to product analytics to ensure desired on-going product performance.
  • Assist with Development activities including daily meetings, grooming, retrospectives and project status meetings with the Steering Committee.
  • Track and effectively communicate project issues, delays and risks so that stakeholders are not surprised.
  • Provide expertise and support to project teams and senior management on Product Capabilities and Services. 
  • Communicate monthly release details and lead training activities with Solution Analyst team.

Qualifications

  • Requires a four year college degree; Bachelor of Science in Business or Engineering preferred
  • 3+ year’s professional experience in software development, project management, client services, or marketing, in a technically oriented business environment
  • Ability to understand software development framework, architecture concepts and terminology
  • Experience in Quantitative and Qualitative Customer Experience Management
  • Developing and executing comprehensive market and competitive analyses
  • Documents process, approach, data sources and calculations for all analyses
  • Analyze financial data for products including sales and operational ROI
  • Compile data analysis into tables, charts, graphs to help advise product decisions including opportunities for growth
  • Provides prioritized recommendations to product team based on analyses
  • Strong analytical and technical skills, including a thorough understanding of how to interpret custom business needs and translate them into functional requirements
  • Assists in defining and documenting business requirements to support products and solutions
  • Proven track record of managing client facing projects or deliverables
  • Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines and handle multiple projects simultaneously
  • Ability to prioritize and schedule own work based on completing demands of clients and team members.
  • Excellent presentation and interpersonal communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate within cross functional teams

 

Preferred:

  • 2+ years’ working in an agile software development life cycle methodology
  • Experience managing product backlogs and user stories in using Team Foundation Server or JIRA
  • Familiarity with wireframe tools, such as Balsamiq Mockups
  • Pragmatic Marketing Certification, Certified Scrum Product Owner or Net Promoter Certified
